Neon lights glow through the science of excited atoms. When electricity passes through a sealed tube of neon gas, electrons jump to higher energy levels. As they return, they release energy as vibrant light, creating dazzling displays in cities worldwide.

Document Zero

Guiding Principles for My Game Design

My Document Zero lives! It changes. It adapts. It is unique, too. Your Document Zero will change with every game you run.

Every game you run brings changes to the way you play TTRPGs in general. Your internal Document Zero shifts. Most times a little. Sometimes a lot all at once, like the first time I read the Moves and MC sections of Apocalypse World.

My ideal Twenty-sided World is based on fundamental rules that hinge on One and Three. One action and one move is one turn. Three options. These fundamental rules shape the overall game design as expressed in specific rules.

The game should reward creativity and imagination in play, at the table. This process begins at character creation, and is driven by player-focused play goals.

The game should welcome house rules that fit the play style of the DM and players.
